BIOGRAPHIE

Australian filmmaker Zohie Castellano studied at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2009. Whilst designing numerous award winning feature films including HAIL (Venice 2011), OF AN AGE (Melbourne 2022) and SHAYDA (Sundance 2023) and also participating in Berlinale Talents 2014, she developed her distinct ability to create compelling visual languages. Her short film ORACLE premiered at Sydney's Flickerfest 2018 and toured nationally in Australia, demonstrating her unique ritualistic style that encompasses the everyday while speaking to wider, spiritual dimensions of human experience. Her next short film, MATING RITUAL, explores the toxic relationship between colonialism and intimacy, as she seeks a world beyond the status quo through a hymn for the earth. She currently divides her time between Melbourne and Tbilisi.
